Welcome to Bells & Spikes (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This page is designed to be readable and accessible for all users, including those using assistive technologies. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, client portal, and pet care services. By booking services, submitting forms, or otherwise engaging with Bells & Spikes, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not book or use our services.

1. Services Offered

Bells & Spikes provides personalized pet care services in Virginia Beach, VA and surrounding areas, including but not limited to:

  • Required meet & greets

  • Daily drop-in visits and dog walks

  • Overnight care in the client’s home

  • Home-style dog boarding

  • Cat boarding

  • Dog daycare

  • Pet taxi (for boarding clients only)

  • Add-on and special request services

Services, pricing, and availability are subject to change.

2. Meet & Greets (Required)

A meet & greet is required before any services are rendered. This allows us to assess your pet’s needs, behavior, routine, and home setup to ensure safe and appropriate care. Services may be declined if a meet & greet has not been completed.

3. Booking, Deposits & Payments

This section explains how reservations are confirmed, how payments work, and what is required to secure services.

Deposits

A 25% deposit is required to reserve the following services:

  • Home-Style Dog Boarding

  • Bed & Biscuits Overnight Service

For bookings involving multiple visits, a 25% deposit is due the day before the first visit. Failure to submit the required deposit may result in cancellation of services.

A valid credit card must be kept on file.

Client Portal

All quotes, invoices, and booking details are available in your client portal. Clients are responsible for reviewing invoices prior to services being rendered. Prices or fees cannot be adjusted after services are completed if invoices were not reviewed.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

Standard Cancellation Policy

  • A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a scheduled service.

  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before a scheduled visit will incur a 50% service fee.

Emergencies

We understand that emergencies happen. In certain circumstances, cancellations may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate, up-to-date information about their pets

  • Disclose behavioral concerns, medical needs, and special instructions

  • Maintain pets on current vaccinations, as required for group or boarding services

  • Maintain flea and tick prevention when applicable

  • Provide clear home access instructions and functioning locks, alarms, and smart devices

Failure to disclose relevant information may result in refusal or termination of services.

6. Home Access, Keys & Security

Clients authorize Bells & Spikes to access their home as needed to perform services. We are not responsible for issues related to faulty locks, alarm systems, smart devices, or utilities. Clients are responsible for ensuring alarms are properly managed and instructions are provided.

7. Emergencies & Veterinary Care

If a pet requires emergency medical care and the client cannot be reached, Bells & Spikes is authorized to seek veterinary treatment at the client’s designated veterinarian or the nearest available facility.

Clients are responsible for all veterinary expenses. We are not liable for outcomes related to emergency care decisions made in good faith.

8. Liability & Assumption of Risk

While we take every reasonable precaution to ensure safety, pet care involves inherent risks. By using our services, clients acknowledge and accept responsibility for risks including, but not limited to:

  • Illness, injury, or escape

  • Behavioral incidents involving pets

  • Acts of nature or unforeseen circumstances

Bells & Spikes is not liable for conditions arising from a pet’s behavior, undisclosed medical conditions, or environmental factors beyond our control.

9. Photos, Updates & Marketing

Clients consent to receiving service updates, photos, and communications via email, text message, or the client portal.

Unless otherwise requested in writing, clients grant Bells & Spikes permission to use pet photos for marketing and social media purposes. Clients may opt out at any time.

10. Communication & Text Messaging

We communicate with clients via email and text message using our business phone system. Clients may receive appointment reminders, updates, or responses to inquiries by text.

Clients may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP or by contacting us directly.

11. Age Requirement

Clients must be 18 years of age or older to book services or enter into an agreement with Bells & Spikes.

12. Termination of Services

We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services at any time if:

  • A pet poses a safety risk

  • Required disclosures were not provided

  • Payment obligations are not met

  • These Terms are violated

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on our website with a revised effective date. Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
